BOOK PRESENTATION: UFO’S SIMPLY EXIST (An eyewitness account and further notes) Kees Deckers April 2013 Delft. One enormous large emptiness around the railway station. One large construction pit and plenty of work in progress. What is it going to  become? Delft. A more than lifesize statue of Hugo Grotius on the square the Markt, with on the background the overwhelming tower of the  Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), pointing straight up towards an icecold, blue sky. Delft. Old canals with still a lot of nostalgic atmosphere. All  symbols, I think, while I take a short walk through the city, I have not been before. Symbols, which have to do with the book, the first copy of  which will be presented on the evening of this March the 27th to its writer, Coen Vermeeren. The book carries the bold title: “Ufo’s simply  exist” and the even more bold caption: “A scientific view”.  Finally a Dutch scientist, who dares to speak out about the U.F.O. phenomenon. Coen Vermeeren is dr. ir. of Aerospace Engineering and works  at the Technical University of Delft as head of the Studium Generale.   After reception with coffee and petits fours in a staid lighted room with old pink painted beams and heavy, old pink curtains in Sociëteit “Het  Meisjeshuis” at De Oude Delft, the already arrived audience goes to a room on the third floor. There at around 19:00 hours the programme of  the book presentation starts with an introduction by Pieter de Boer, publisher at publishing house Ankh Hermes and host of this party. I  estimate that between 60 to 70 humans fill the room, with which the room is packed.  Edgar Mitchell At exactly 19:30 hours, by way of a Skype connection, Edgar Mitchell, the 6th human   who stood on our Moon, is also present, to tell his story and to answer questions of  Vermeeren and the audience. Mitchell is now 83 years old. We see him sitting in a  spacious room, on a every now and then pretty squeaky office chair, somewhat out of  the centre of the image. One of Vermeeren’s first questions is when Mitchell got out of  the closet with regard to the U.F.O. phenomenon. Mitchell answers that this was about   4 to 5 years ago. He is born in the neighbourhood of Roswell and because of this knows  many of the people, who were involved one way or another in the crash of an  Unidentified Flying Object (U.F.O.) in 1947. They have told him about their experiences  with that and of their knowledge about it. Mitchell also says that in his previous position  as astrounaut, he was not allowed to speak about such things. On the question of  Vermeeren what the reasons are there still is no official disclosure, Edgar Mitchell says  that the most important reason for this is financial gain.  According to Edgar Mitchell ExtraTerrestrials have shown themselves already to humans  unquestionably. He points for this amongst others to the Phoenix Lights incident of 1997 and indicates that there have been many other public happenings in this way all around  the world. Mitchell’s own motive to talk about it openly and publicly today, is because he  thinks it is time for this now, because our future depends on it.  The question is asked by someone of the audience whether he knows about “The  Overview Effect”. And if so, if this can be a way to unite all humans on Earth with regard  to the subject of ExtraTerrestrials. The Overview Effect  The Overview Effect is a cognitive shift in awareness reported by some astronauts and cosmonauts during spaceflight, often while viewing the Earth from orbit or from  the lunar surface. It refers to the experience of seeing firsthand the reality of the Earth in space, which is immediately understood to be a tiny, fragile ball of life, hanging in the void,  shielded and nourished by a paper-thin atmosphere. From space, the astronauts tell us, national boundaries vanish, the conflicts that divide us become less important and  the need to create a planetary society with the united will to protect this "pale blue dot" becomes both obvious and imperative.  Third-hand observers of these individuals may also report a noticeable difference in attitude. Astronauts Rusty Schweikart, Edgar Mitchell, Tom Jones, Chris Hadfield  and Mike Massimino are all reported to have experienced the effect.  The term and concept was coined in 1987 by Frank White, who explored them in his book The Overview Effect — Space Exploration and Human Evolution (Houghton-  Mifflin, 1987), (AIAA, 1998).  Internet reference (30-03-13):  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_effect  Mitchell answers he indeed knows the effect and has experienced it. It is also called “The Big Picture Effect”.  Aside. While Edgar Mitchell speaks about this effect, in my head I make the association with the many thousands of Near-Death-Experiences  (N.D.E.’s). And especially with the with that often experienced part of the overview-over-one’s-own-life-experience. Here the same  consequences can be noticed, which cosmonauts and astronauts report. Also so-called N.D.E.’rs often report an Overview Effect, which touches  them profoundly, which results in a change of the image of what reality is and which leads to a changed attitude towards life. Also the question  pops up in my head if that is why Carl Sagan, in his book “Contact”, made into a movie with the same title, with Jody Foster in the lead role,  seems to have made the same link.  Is there a hostile relationship with Extraterrestrials, is another question. Mitchell does not think so. At least not that hostile that they want to  kill us straightaway. But there is more than one kind of ExtraTerrestrial. And there are, of course, things going on like abductions of humans  and cattle mutilations. Connecting to that Coen Vermeeren mentions the book: “UFOs and Nukes - extraordinary encounters at nuclear  weapons sites” by Robert Hastings. In this Hastings writes about the fact that more than once nuclear missile installations have been paralysed  by U.F.O.’s. Why would they do that, asks Vermeeren. What is their interest in this, their concern? Mitchell indicates that he knows the book.  He thinks a peaceful displeasure exists among ExtraTerrestrials about our use of technology. Vermeeren aks if it is not the fear of the  ExtraTerrestrials that we, humans, will bring these weapons to space.  Another question of him to Mitchell is, why he has started to look into the noetic sciences.  Institute of Noetic Sciences Noetics is a new age movement, which translated means doctrine of thinking and is derived from the Greek word noetikos, which means ‘from an ethical spirit’. The  definition of Noetic Sciences is explained in different ways, but all are about the power of the human mind as follows: Noetic Science is the doctrine, in which it is  assumed that humans through a combination of their mental faculties are capable of exercising power over matter.  ... Dr. Edgar Mitchell, astronaut on the Apollo 14 and sixth man on the moon, has founded The Institute of Noetic Sciences. His journey to the moon took place in 1971  and this caused changes within him, according to him. ... During his journey back to the earth he thought to see a 'truth'; he felt himself one with the earth and the universe. Dr. Edgar Mitchell decided after his return to the earth  to found The Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1973. This institute is dedicated to the study of the nature of human consciousness. Professor Emeritus William A. Tiller, of  the Stanford University, was co-founder of The Institute of Noetic Sciences. William Tiller is seen by followers as a pioneer in the area of the understanding of the power of consciousness and the effect it has on our (visible) reality. ... Internet reference (30-03-13) (my own translation):  http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instituut_voor_No%C3%ABtische_Wetenschappen  IONS - Institute of Noetic Sciences The Institute of Noetic Sciences™, founded in 1973 by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research, education, and membership organization  whose mission is supporting individual and collective transformation through consciousness research, educational outreach, and engaging a global learning community  in the realization of our human potential. “Noetic” comes from the Greek word nous, which means “intuitive mind” or “inner knowing.” IONS™ conducts, sponsors, and  collaborates on leading-edge research into the potentials and powers of consciousness, exploring phenomena that do not necessarily fit conventional scientific models  while maintaining a commitment to scientific rigor.  The Institute’s primary program areas are consciousness and healing, extended human capacities, and emerging worldviews.  Internet reference (30-03-13):  http://noetic.org/   Edgar Mitchell states that it was the experience of The Overview Effect, the magnificent experience of seeing his own planet, the Earth, in her  natural habitat, space, which has led him to this science.  A last question to him is if free energy can be a motive not to disclose the presence of ExtraTerrestrials. Mitchell thinks this certainly is related  to the non-disclosure. He speaks shortly about the Zero Point energy, which is available everywhere in the universe as free energy.  Coen Vermeeren After saying goodbye to the through the electronics present Edgar Mitchell, Pieter de Boer van  Ankh Hermes takes the programme over again and asks Coen Vermeeren how it has come to  this book. Vermeeren explains that he, as head of the Studium Generale has, next to providing  interesting lectures for students in the area of aerospace technology, also the task to respond to student questions. At the end of 2009 he got more than once youtube videos of students about  possible U.F.O.’s with the question what exactly could be seen in these videos. In first instance  he was not right away interested, but when he also saw youtube videos with the N.A.S.A. logo  on them he started to doubt and to give it more attention. Then, like so many, he could go  nowhere with his story. And with the question: What can really be seen here? This finally led to  a first lecture by him at the Technical University of Delft about the U.F.O. phenomenon. A  second lecture followed. But it was only when De Telegraaf (a Ducth mainstream newspaper) in  2011 published a large article about the scientist, who lectures about U.F.O.’s at a university,  that the shit hit the fan. After this, at the start of 2012 Ankh Hermes came with the offer to  write a book about it. In first instance Vermeeren turned the offer down, but when a few  months after the offer was put before him a second time, he accepted. Those years from 2009  til now have been a difficult period for him, Vermeeren tells very honest. He has exposed his  own vulnerability. He asked himself very many How and Why questions. But this book is a  pleasant end to this journey. A next question to him is: Why you as an engineer and not other engineers? Well, fear, is his  answer. Also made crazy with the idea that it's all just Science Fiction. Why he? Vermeeren says  he has been well trained as an engineer. And that because of this he can properly judge  information in this area, which others put before him. And that is exactly what he does.  Which systems are used to suppress this reality? And why? According to Vermeeren the biggest  problem is that most humans are not trained observers. How can you become this, a trained  observer? This can go quite fast, Vermeeren says. But you have to read many dossiers and go  through many books. Look at videos of N.A.S.A. on the Internet. Especially when there is talk  about Bogeys and so on. These have to be true, according to Vermeeren. Some humans can not see it? Why not? Because there is no language for it, states Vermeeren. An example. A test pilot comes down from a  test flight with a story about a meeting at great height with an unknown kind of light. Such a story does not fit in the language, the jargon of  test pilots and engineers. And with that this test pilot is shunned, is banned as a professional. That is according to Vermeeren why Edgar  Mitchell has ended up at the noetic sciences. If we as humans do not go into these stories about strange meetings and phenomena, do not  delve into it, do not research it, we will lose sight of a large part of our universe and will never get to see it.   Aside. Here also for me straight away a clearly same story can be tasted as with humans with Near-Death-Experiences. Many among them  have stated that they have no words to describe their experience. That these words do not even exist in our language. It is one of the reasons  why some of them don’t even want to talk about it. It does not fit in the reality they already know their entire life. It is the story of Plato’s  Allegory of the Cave. With that, to me, Vermeeren’s use of the term jargon is also interesting. Most humans, probably all, live in a narrowed  part of the Total Reality. This is logical, if just only because of the fact that every human is born and raised elsewhere on Earth. In the western  world for sure, besides this, it is expected of every human that he and she learn a specialist profession. Like for instance test pilot and  engineer. All these professions have their own words, sometimes complete own languages or (technical) jargon. In these jargons many words  are excluded and other words are regarded as eternal truths. A consequence is that all humans in fact live in an own, individual reality. What I  call in my own jargon the Life Course Defined Reality. This reality can have a very determining and limiting influence on each human, which  leads to it that he and she is not only not capable of understanding a human with a very different Life Course Defined Reality or unknown  happenings and phenomena, but often also does not want to understand these. We must however make it discussable. But how? Vermeeren answers, by opening ourselves up.  Up Next page
